  The Challenge:
Re-cover ottoman with client's choice of stock fabric (that wasn't the challenge part). The challenge was that the client did not want anything foofie. At all. I solved this problem with an elegant trim and used fringe in place of the skirting. A very happy client indeed!

  The Challenge:
Re-build the top layer of stuffing (very ferious dogs apparently) and update the look. Laurette loves this ottoman and wanted to re-upholester instead of buying new. She loves anything "foofie", chose her fabric and gave me free reign in creativity (with doggies in mind). I solved the issue with small beading giving this beauty sparkle yet keeping curious teeth at bay. The ottoman continues to be foofie and is now hidden away in her sitting room.

  The Challenge:
"This stool is over 50 years old. Can you do anything with this? I grew up on it, so did my kids and grandchildren. It was my mothers and I don't have the heart to get rid of it. I trust you, do whatever you want!" Carole fell in love with Laurette's fabric hence the choice. Hyperventilating for 10 minutes after I told her, "Of course I can fix it" and no idea what to do, I decided I was going to have fun with this project. "Sexy Steps" now sports red paint, new treads and a garter on one leg. She proudly sits at Carole's kitchen entrance where all can admire from a distance. No one is allowed to sit or use this step stool in any way, including me and the grandkids.

The Challenge:
This client could not make up her mind on what "look" she wanted. "I want this updated but I have no idea what I want." was her response to me when I asked her about the style she desired for this vanity chair. After spending some time with fabrics, neutral was settled on and I was given free reign on pulling it all together. I let the chair and the fabric"tell me what it wanted to be". It may sound strange but when I listen, I nail the design every time.

I proudly presented, "Ultimate Couture" to her and she almost fainted. She was so taken with new design, all she could whisper was, "...a work of art...oh my..." She looked at me and said, "Jess...this is fit for a bride! A queen! It's PERFECT!" (she's been married almost 45 yrs).

More than she ever expected, "Ultimate Couture" is now displayed in her living room as a work of art. No one is allowed to sit or use this stool. Again, not even me.
